Polar Plunge

February 21, 2009

The Polar Plunge takes place at The International Eelpout Festival, an experience not to be missed.

The activities during the Eelpout Festival are plentiful. The celebration begins with the Opening Ceremony at high noon in the Walker City Park on Friday, February 20th. The rest of the day is spent out on the lake fishing for the perfect Eelpout. Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. registration is open for the Eelpout Peelout - 5k run that starts at 10:00 a.m. at the Walker High School.

You won't want to miss out on the Best Eelpout Encampment judging at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday as well. See the creativity these Eelpouters put to use when creating their custom-made fish houses. Ice races on Saturday will also occur on Garfield Lake in Laporte, MN, only about 15 minutes northwest of Walker.

The POLAR PLUNGE will definitely be a highlight for all on Saturday from1:30 - 3:00 p.m. on Leech Lake. In its fourth year, the Polar Plunge has been able to produce a great contribution to the Walker Area Community Center. All proceeds from this thrilling event benefit the Walker Area Community Center and its building efforts.
